  Souvenir of the South
Code: AL0000
$0.00
This is a really interesting and really rare "Souvenir of the South" butterfly girl, postmarked 1906. I've never seen this particular butterfly girl before - there are several versions - and she's very pretty as well as very elaborately dressed. The other aspect of this card that's very interesting is that all the views inside the butterfly wings - all the people engaged in cotton production - are identical, I mean THE SAME AS the cotton views used in Alligator Borders. When you are a postcard collector you are part sleuth, and I got a frisson of excitement when I saw this card.

  Greetings from Demopolis
Code: AL0405

This is as rare as they come - a Butterfly Girl from a very small town in Alabama. This Greetings from Demopolis was ordered by Tucker Drug Company via a salesman or catalog, and is postmarked 1909. Scenes in the butterfly wings are Silver Bluff on Tom Bigbee River, Public Park, Gen. Polks Headquarters, and Negro Baptizing. What an interesting and historic view of small town, turn of the century Alabama life!
