  Amitie Sincere
Code: pigeons1
$0.00
Well, I know I said that "Alligator Borders" was my very favorite series, and it was, until I saw these Art Nouveau Pigeons. These are so fun and charming! I bought these five cards from a dealer in Lisbon. They were published by a French publisher, and one is postmarked 1916. This one says "Amitie Sincere", and shows a lady and a gentleman Pigeon. The gentleman is dressed in a red floppy bow, a cane, and a white top hat, which he has taken off to greet the lady. Note how the feathers on his feet have been carefully brushed back. The lady Pigeon is wearing a straw hat with blue flowers and a blue bow, a red bouquet, a red umbrella tucked under her wing, a gold bead necklace, and a ring around one of her ankles. Notice how the gentleman is leaning forward, and the lady is standing upright. I love the red-flowering tree in the green pot to the right.

Darling Art Nouveau Pigeon scene Je Pense a Vous, showing an elderly Pigeon grandfather sitting in a red easy chair with fringe and a blanket across his lap, being greeted by three grandchildren Pigeons. The little boy Pigeon is wearing a straw hat with a pink bow is reading a proclamation, and the two little girl Pigeons are wearing bonnets. One little girl Pigeon has a blue hydrangea bouquet in her beak, and the other has a purple hydrangea coursage.

  Souhaits Sinceres
Code: pigeons3

I love this Art Nouveau Pigeon scene Souhaits Sinceres. This is wonderful. The young lady Pigeon is being slipped a note by the rakish gentleman Pigeon, unbeknowst to her chaperone. I love the bonnets on the ladies, the spectacles on the chaperone and her purple workbag. Who knew Pigeons could be so expressive?!!

  Bonne & Heureuse Fete
Code: pigeons4

Excellent Art Nouveau Pigeon scene Bonne & Heureuse Fete, this one showing a mailman Pigeon giving an envelope to a matronly Pigeon and her son Pigeon. I like the roses growing in the green box to the left of the door. Cute scene!

  A New Arrival
Code: pigeons5
$0.00
This is the only one of this series that does not include an easy French phrase. This cute Pigeon scene shows the proud Mother and Father Pigeon, with Junior (note the blue ribbon!) in a basket filled with red roses. The Papa is wearing a straw hat and feather and a wide belt. Just look at the way his ankle feathers are combed! The Mama is wearing a straw bonnet with roses, a gold locket on a purple bow, and rings on both ankles. Wonderful!!
