  Cycling Cats
Code: CyclingCats
$0.00
Terrific and fun view of Cycling Cats with lots going on! There's the flat tire on the front tire of rider #15, who is trying to avoid three racing mice, there's the youngster about to upset the photographer's tripod, there is the cheering crowd... I wonder about those two stainless steel thermos-type bottle attached to the handlebars - what a good idea!

Another terrific view of cats in a cyling race, complete with photographers and enthusiastic spectators. This time it's birds, not mice, in the road.

  Shake a Tail Feather
Code: ShakeaTailFeather
$0.00
Super image with terrific colors of a cat running a rooster off the road, circa the late 1940s or so. Tail feathers are flying! A marvelous illustration of a motorcycle, with the cat wearing high boots, gloves, goggles, and a cap. Note the way his shirt is billowing out at the back. I regret to say he doesn't look sorry for the rooster's discomfort.

Darling view of two children on a bicycle built for two, circa the 1920s. Cute dog, too.

  The Blimp Cyclist - Blue
Code: TheBlimpCyclistBlue

This card went to 'favorite' card status the first time I saw it. What an amazing image! There's the well-dressed athletic man casually flying in a cycle-driven blimp. I love his black knickers, white socks and jacket, brown gloves, brown patterned vest, red tie, and green cap. The way he is casually smoking using a long cigarette holder is a hoot. He's got a goatee and a terrific little mustache. And just look at that red and black pinwheel! And the way it's attached to the blimp! Too funny! Since he is supposed to be in the clouds this version has a blue background. The 'gold' image shows him very close to the way the original card looks now. Postmarked 1910. Excellent.

  The Blimp Cyclist - Gold
Code: TheBlimpCyclistGold

I adore this card, and this 'gold' version is very similar to the way it looks now. This is the only image chosen for our November/December 2004 advertisement in Metropolitan Home magazine. Phenomenal graphics. Even though I'm a terrific purist, I couldn't decide which version I like better. I'll even crop out the caption if you ask me to, but you have to ask. This is what makes postcard collecting so worthwhile.

  Smiling Cyclists
Code: SmilingCyclists

I love this terrific image - I think it's Japanese - of a pair of Smiling Cyclists. There's a postmark, but I can't read it because it's in Japanese, but I believe this is circa 1909 or so. Great gold background, large sun (could be a moon...), and calligraphy. Wonderful colors - just look at those magenta pants! I thought that those were stylized mountains in the back ground, but now I'm not so sure. Great details on the bikes, and great little flip flops on their feet. How the front fellow manages to bike and fan himself at the same time is beyond me. If anyone would be so kind and translate this calligraphy it'd be fun to know what it says.

  Care-free
Code: Care-free
$0.00
Wonderful WWII-era image of a young woman riding her bike and waving. I like her matching necklace and bracelet (one must be fashionable!) and coordinating shoes. Look at the 'woosh' of the air from her bike - great detail!
