Wonderful New Hampshire entry in the Tuck's "State Belles" series, postmarked 1909. As any collector of this series knows, the thrifty Brits at Raphael Tuck & Sons recycled both their girls and their girls' clothes. If you look at the "State Girls" material in our "People" collection, you'll see this girl is the 'State Belle" of a state or two, and that her outfit looks a little familiar... However, this is the only time I've seen the Girls of this series wearing a bracelet and a wedding ring, so that makes this Girl more interesting than otherwise.

I love this wonderful card advertising Arthur F. Bergeron's Chrysler Plymouth gas station in Peterborough. Wonderful colors and crisp details! Notice the autumnal tints of the trees, and the way the ground slopes from right to left. There are two tires on display against the facade, and a bike is parked in front of the car to the left. When I was raving about the card to the seller - after buying it through ebay - he told me that his car was in the left-hand bay at the moment, getting a new muffler. Ah, New England winters! And I suppose it's a good thing we can't see the price of a gallon of gas!
