Uncle Sam #1
Code: UncleSam1
$0.00
This is the first card in a very famous "installment" series, circa 1906. Here is Uncle Sam, smiling benignly, wearing a wonderful top hat, bow tie, stand up collar, and goatee. Interesting flower (?) feathers (?) in his button hole. This image says "The first Card shows Uncle Sam smiling bright, Because he knows he is Allright." ALLRIGHT! These Uncle Sam images are from Huld's Puzzle Series No. 3. The idea was to mail each card separately to a friend, who did the "puzzle". This Uncle Sam image is very timely and fun. I matted each image with a small separation, and framed them all in one frame. A perfect group for an entrance or hallway.

Uncle Sam #2
Code: UncleSam2
$0.00
Second in the puzzle installment series, this image shows Uncle Sam's starry waistcoat, vest (love those red buttons!), and red striped shirt and the tops of his trousers. The the legend says "Here are more of the stars, also the shield, In the battle for honor he never will yield." It's unusual to find a set where all the cards were mailed to the same person from the same person - most of the time people piece together sets. This set however, was mailed from Betsy in Ausable, Michigan, on March 14, 1907, to Miss Pauline McInnes, Ripley, Ontario.

Uncle Sam #3

The third card in this series show Uncle Sam's red and white trousers and the end of his waist coat. The interior of the waist coat is (and prints) deep indigo, though it might look black. Here the words are: "He stands firm on his feet since his birth; They are large enough to cover the earth." And do!

Uncle Sam #4

The final card in this installment series is the best. It shows the end of Uncle Sam's trousers and his boots, and says "The stripes forever, long may they wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave." Amen to that!!!!

Uncle Sam Santa with a pink heart
Code: UncleSamSanta1
$0.00
As any Christmas collector knows, Uncle Sam Santa cards are the cream of the crop, and certainly occupy the starring role in any Christmas/Santa collection. I am lucky to have three different Uncle Sam Santas. There is (as I understand it) at least one more, and I am about to get that one, too! Hooray!!! This one is a wonderful image, with the Uncle Sam Santa climbing icy steps, a pack filled with toys on his back, holding a lovely decorated Christmas tree in both hands. I like his gold buttons and watch fob, the green picket fence planter around the root ball of the tree, the flowers and candles that decorate the tree, and the little pink heart dangling from the tree. Just a wonderful image.

Uncle Sam Santa in a snowy lane
Code: UncleSamSanta2
$0.00
Anther terrific Uncle Sam Santa image, this one of the Uncle Sam Santa pausing in a snowy lane, outside the frosty bedroom window of two sleeping children. Two American flags wave bravely from his pack, which is also stuffed with dolls and toys. He looks like he's taking a moment to arrange the toys for all the good little girls and boys, which, I'd imagine, he has to do from time to time.

Uncle Sam Santa is at the door!
Code: UncleSamSanta3
$0.00
Terrific image of Uncle Sam Santa right at the door, with a Christmas tree and two American flags in his arms. Two girls have answered his knock. Excellent colors! This image was originally a "Hold To Light" card, which is exactly as its name implies - a card that light shines through when you hold it up to the light. This Uncle Sam Santa series came in several versions: the embossed cards, the Hold To Light cards, and the "Squeaker" cards. The Squeaker is perhaps the most rare version, since children almost invariably tore open the card to see what made it squeak. Circa 1909 or so. Lovely and fun.

Red, White, and Blue Boy
Code: RedWhiteBlueBoy
$0.00
Great Ellen Clapsaddle rendition of a young boy as Uncle Sam, circa about 1910 or so. Terrific outfit, what with the stars and stripes hat, the starry vest, the red-and-white striped trousers, the red-white-and-blue bow tie, and the blue topcoat. "We will stand by the Right, We will stand by the True, We will Live, We will Die, for the Red, White, and Blue. Nice gold, red, and blue letters, and interesting diagonal banner. Lovely.

July 4th "The Day we Celebrate"
Code: Clapsaddle4
$0.00
I'm really becoming a fan of Ellen Clapsaddle - this is a wonderful image! "Gorgeous" is not a word I use lightly, and this special 4th of July image certainly qualifies. Here we have Uncle Sam and two attractive, well-dressed ladies up in a blimp, complete with three American flags and patriotic bunting. How wonderful is this?! The copyright notice to the lower left says 1908.
