Interesting linen roadside view of the Stamford Store, which was a combination store and gas station in Stamford, SD, circa the 1940s or so. Shows two pumps in front (with crowns, the significance of which escapes me), red, white, and blue awnings, two Coca-Cola signs, a advertisement for Fairmont ice cream, and a Post Office sign. Though it says "Modern" in big letters on the left side of the building, it wasn't air conditioned, since the 'Squaw Cooler" shown in the inset was a thatched hut with bleachers. I think I would have remained silent on that score.
