This young woman has on a big hat and leather gloves, and is holding a spray of bluebonnets, which everyone knows is the State Flower of Texas. She's leaning on a fence of some sort made of sticks, with her arm resting on steer horns. Behind her are teepees and a smoking cook fire. Delightful. Circa the early 1900s. Here's a card that shows a smiling man in a fancy convertible finishing a trek across a skeleton-ridden desert, about to enter TEXAS - land of green grass, happy livestock, oil wells, good roads, cowboy boots, and 10-gallon hats. And look! the sign says "You Are Entering The EMPIRE OF TEXAS Pick Up Your Boots and Ten Gallon Hats Here."
